Hello! I’m Heidi! I have lived in rural Minnesota my whole life and while the winters can get long, I really can’t see myself living anywhere else. I mean, it’s pretty fun seeing wild turkeys walk through our yard most mornings while sipping coffee before the kids wake up. Speaking of kids (and coffee), my husband and I have two children, 3 and 6, and a fun hobby we started last year was learning how to roast our own coffee beans. It’s safe to say, we take our family time and quality coffee very seriously!
I love to garden in the summer, and much to my family’s annoyance, I have way too many house plants inside (my husband keeps track of how many, I have no idea!). I enjoy canning and storing all the bounty from the garden or wild forages, it’s very satisfying seeing the shelves groaning in the fall. I recently traveled to Germany, enjoyed trying some fantastic food, and then came home and tried to replicate the food we had there. I love to bake anything involving bread dough! There’s something satisfying about working with dough, my husband says it’s nerdy, and I say it’s relaxing!
Before having kids, I worked for a low-income child care program using my degree in Early Childhood working with parents and their children. Not only has that experience helped me in raising my own children, but the daily challenges helped me learn to try new things, brainstorm new ideas and encourage and empower others. I am very detail-oriented (I remember what kind of car everyone drives) but can flex and bend to meet needs. I am very go-with-the-flow and spur-of-the-moment! I am willing to help when there is a need and will jump in and try something, even if it doesn’t work the first time, I am willing to try again a different way. I’m often questioning how something works and why (have you watched How It’s Made?!) and if there’s a better way that makes sense I’m willing to investigate it!
